Charly the Clown is a side scrolling platformer, in which you’ll be controlling Charly, a clown with some unknown business in what looks to be a post-apocalyptic world. However, this doesn’t seem to affect Charly so much, since he keeps running, joggling and doing his clown things to have fun. Your mission is to get him across the 5 levels available of this shareware without making him explode.

Okay so first thing first, we don’t actually know if this game was supposed to make us like clowns more or less, since the whole vibe of the game is so mysterious and obscure that we might be even more afraid of clowns now. But this is not Charly’s fault, since he is just doing his thing running, with a little bit of sliding too, and collecting treasures; god knows for what, bigger shoes maybe.

Unlike titles like Super Mario Bros and other platform games, Charly the Clown can’t kill his enemies by jumping on them; instead you’ll have to use colorful bombs that he keeps on his clown suit, but remember to pick them up first or you’ll be defenseless.

The graphics and backgrounds are well colored and although they might look a little bit too spooky for our liking, we have to admit that it’s a really good job. The controls are simple too, since the main objective is to run to have fun; use the arrow keys to move, the spacebar to throw your bombs and the Spacebar to jump.

Although the game is too short, since we only had 5 levels to play, it was a fun game with pretty much what you'd expect from a side scrolling game, so why don’t you join the circus of Charly the Clown?
